Waikoloa Village is located on the Big Island of Hawaii, six miles from the Kohala Coast. 2008 celebrated our 10th Year Anniversary of the WVOC charter which began on May 14, 1998. The dedication of our members have made it possible to enjoy many beautification projects in the Waikoloa Village. Our initial goal was to landscape the Waikoloa Road median strip. After five years, hundreds of volunteer hours, and $70,000, we successfully turned weeds and trash into a beautiful garden, encouraging tourism and radically increasing real-estate values. The WVOC continues to maintain the median through membership fees, fund raising projects, grants, donations, and special solicitations to property developers and realtors. The Waikoloa Village Outdoor Circle is here to provide support and education for people who live in our community. See a copy of a list of wind and drought tolerant plants for our area created by one of our members, Wendy Fraser. |
